Never Shot a Mile….No Problem.
Attention all Amateur Shooters: We are hosting a 1 Mile Match for Amateur shooters along with the great folks at the Ben Franklin Range in Templeton PA.
To keep it competitive, we are limiting the caliber to No Larger Than 300PRC. All you guys with 6mm, .243, .270, 6.5, 7mm, 7PRC, 300wm, 300 PRC and yes, even you folks still rocking a .308 win will have a chance to win.
PRE-MATCH DAY
Haven’t shot a mile yet, don’t worry. We will have the range open the day prior to the match with expert spotter instructors there to help you DOPE your rifle. This is going to be a fun shoot that anyone can join and still be competitive to win. We encourage everyone to show up the day prior to the match to say hello, familiarize themselves with the range, meet Match Officials and stick around for an evening cocktail or two.
DAY 1 – 7AM: Meeting
Rules and Team time slots handed out, move to Range for Stage 1
Stage 1 Targets (Targets from 500 – 1000 )
Course of Fire: Shooters will get 3 shots per target and engage from close to far.
Point Values: 7pts first hit, 5pts second hit, 3pts third hit
8:00 am – 8:45
- Open shoot/sight in’s, chronographing / set up
9:00am – 11:30am
Team 1 begins
- Strick 10 minute time limit per team
12:45PM Meet at Range for set up
Stage 2 Targets (1200 – 1760)
1:15PM Team 1 begins
- 10 minute time limit per team

DAY 2
Day 2 will follow the same outline as day 1, but the scoring will change.
EXAMPLE: Shooters will engage the first target (ex. 500) but they cannot move onto the next target (ex. 700) until they hit 500. Maximum shots fired will be dependent upon the number of targets we have in the stage. The count will be 3 shots per target in the stage, meaning if the stage is 500, 700, 900, 1000, the maximum amount of shots allow to be fired trying to hit all the targets is 12 shots. (3 shots x 4 targets (12 shots) It may only take you 4 shots to clear all 4 targets if you get first round hits.
First round hit = 10 points
Second round hit = 5 points
Third round hit = 3 points
Fourth round or more = 1 point
TEAM SIZE:
Teams can be from 2 – 4 people. A minimum of 2 are needed, one shooter, one spotter. The team must remain the same from start to finish (possible exceptions)
- Each person on a team MUST shoot at least one stage of fire.
- Shooting order and times will be by random number generator. NO weather alibis allowed.
- You can use the same rifle OR change rifles. Rifle changes can be made before each stage of fire, not during a stage
RIFLE LIMITATIONS:
- Rifles must be bolt action or semi auto only. Barrel lengths cannot exceed 30”
CALIBER LIMITATIONS:
- Calibers are limited to any 6mm, .243, 6.5mm, .270, 7mm, .308win, 300win mag, 300prc, 28 nosler. If you have something not listed contact us, we did not list every allowable caliber
AMMUNITION LIMITATION:
- Due to the limited ability to see impacts, the smallest allowable grain bullet is 100 grain (contact with any issues)
WEIGHT LIMITATION:
- The weight of the weapon system cannot exceed 34 pounds. (Rifle, Bipod, Scope)
- Rear bags are limited to 2, and must not be over 5 lbs combined.
POSITION LIMITATION:
- All shooting will be done from the ground with the shooter in the prone position. You can use a shootign mat. No Bench rest shooting is allowed.
BIPOD LIMITATION:
- The bipod can only be attached to the rifle at a single point mount, rail mount or arca rail and cannot exceed 18” in width or 16” in height. Bipod must use conventional rubber, composite or plastic feet. No spiked feet and no sled type bipods allowed. Bipod legs must be capable of folding or otherwise collapsing along the length of the gun.
- The bipod may only have two points of contact with the ground. The rifle and bipod must remain rigid when firing, there can be no recoil dampening or movement of the rifle in relation to the bipod in any way for the purpose of damping/reducing recoil. Nothing can be placed on top of the bipod/rifle to add additional weight/support. Common examples of these are sandbags and stakes. No sharp pointed bipods or spiked feet permitted.
MALFUNCTIONS
- Time does not stop for rifle or equipment malfunctions. The shooter must clear the problem on the clock and continue where they left off. Safety malfunctions could result in disqualification. (blow primers, trigger problems, Etc) Match officials may allow addition assistance with clearing a malfunction. If a rifle must be removed from the line at any time during a stage, that stage is forfeited. At anytime that the match director deems the weapon or team unsafe, he can DQ/stop the shooting team. Malfunctions disqualifications do not included magazine issues, only safety issue malfunctions.
PROCEDURES
- The shooter must make all adjustments to his/her rifle system once the string of fire begins. Examples, adjusting height of bipod/rifle, adjusting the scope or handling the ammo/loading the rifle.
- Any other team member or members can be on glass, spotting scope, binoculars, etc. and give wind calls and adjustments to the shooter.
- The rear of the rifle may be supported by a bag or pad of any kind, a monopod or the shooter but not an adjustable style rest that is not attached to the rifle.
- Any rifle optics and spotting scope system including thermals that can be obtained commercially by anyone are allowed.
- Kestrels are allowed at the firing line. No other ballistic of weather capturing equipment is allowed any where on the range. (no wind flags)
- Ear and eye protection are required of everyone on or near the line of fire. (spotter exception)
- No cell phones allowed on the shooting mats
- Spectators are not permitted to communicate with the team currently shooting in any way.
- Teams can talk amongst themselves for any and all shooter corrections.
- Once teams have finished their shooting string, they must quickly remove their equipment to allow the next team to set up. Weapons UNLOADED and with a CHAMBER FLAG or other visual indicator of an empty chamber when being moved to and from the shooting box. The shooter may not dry fire during setup.
- Teams that are waiting for their turn to move into the Shooting Boxes are not allowed on glass.
- This includes the “On Deck” team.
- Hits and misses will be scored by the Match Officials, and they have the final say.
PROTESTS
Protests in regard to hits or scoring must be made known immediately. If a Match Director deems it necessary he will stop the clock and confer with the other Match Directors. Their decision will be final.
COURSE OF FIRE
Teams will be given a listing of all the target locations, target numbers or designations sizes. Target locations are determined by GPS and laser range finder and may not be “exact” for each shooting box. Competitors are encouraged to use their own range finding equipment if they choose to.
Three firing boxes will be set up at each location. While one team is firing the on deck teams will be ready to go in case of a malfunction or DQ. Once the team gets into this “on deck” position, they need to be ready to start immediately upon being told to, no extra time will be given.
Teams are responsible for knowing the shooting order. Failure to show up on time will result in a stage DQ.
COST: Cost is $1200 per Team. You can have 2-4 people on a team.
